mindmap

mind map is a diagram used to represent wordsideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generatevisualizestructure, and classify ideas, and as an aid tostudying and organizing information, solving problemsmaking decisions, and writing.
The elements of a given mind map are arranged intuitively according to the importance of the concepts, and are classified into groupings, branches, or areas, with the goal of representing semantic or other connections between portions of information. Mind maps may also aid recall of existing memories.
By presenting ideas in a radial, graphical, non-linear manner, mind maps encourage a brainstorming approach to planning and organizational tasks. Though the branches of a mindmap represent hierarchical tree structures, their radial arrangement disrupts the prioritizing of concepts typically associated with hierarchies presented with more linear visual cues. This orientation towards brainstorming encourages users to enumerate and connect concepts without a tendency to begin within a particular conceptual framework.
The mind map can be contrasted with the similar idea of concept mapping. The former is based on radial hierarchies and tree structures denoting relationships with a central governing concept, whereas concept maps are based on connections between concepts in more diverse patterns.

A concept map is a way of representing relationships between ideasimages or words, in the same way that a sentence diagram represents the grammar of a sentence, a road map represents the locations of highways and towns, and a circuit diagram represents the workings of an electrical appliance. In a concept map, each word or phrase is connected to another and linked back to the original idea, word or phrase. Concept maps are a way to develop logical thinking and study skills, by revealing connections and helping students see how individual ideas form a larger whole.[2]
Concept maps were developed to enhance meaningful learning in the sciences. A well-made concept map grows within a context frame defined by an explicit "focus question," while a mind map often has only branches radiating out from a central picture. There is research evidence that knowledge is stored in the brain in the form of productions (situation-response conditionals) that act on declarative memory content which is also referred to as chunks or propositions. Because concept maps are constructed to reflect organization of the declarative memory system, they facilitate sense-making and meaningful learning on the part of individuals who make concept maps and those who use them.

Logical Mind Map
A logical mind map is directly connected to stereotypes. The Logical mind map comprises of solely stereotype words. Which means that every word or image that is put within the mind map is directly related to the central subject through its links.

As I mentioned just now, we were assigned to create a logical mind map in class. We have to design a mind map about the personalities as well as other characteristics of a friend of us.

This mindmap was being done by my course mate- yew hsuen tatt. He used the above mindmap to describe me. He even helped me created one avatar for my blog, which was as followed:

Associated Mind Map
Associated mind map using the main central subject to generate new random words and show the links between words that seemingly have no connection.

Our next task was to illustrate three objects based on the associated mind map provided. The main central subject of the associated mind map was:
                                Mortar & Pestle:

Definition
A mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush, grind, and mix solid substances (trituration). The pestle is a heavy bat-shaped object, the end of which is used for crushing and grinding. The mortar is a bowl, typically made of hard wood, ceramic or stone. The substance to be ground is placed in the mortar and ground, crushed or mixed with the pestle.

Associated mindmap:
Well, based on the associated mind map provided above, I have chosen these three words:
Fashion, Games, Weapons

Fashion:

The pestles will be arranged to be like a necklace for girls, whereas mortar is used as a decorative item for the dress to looked more nicely.

Games:

Firstly, the mortars are arranged as like a tall and huge tower. Then the aim of this game was to throw the pestles into the mortars. The person who can have the highest number of pestles to be in the mortars will be the winner.
Weapons

Pretty interesting if mortar and pestle can be used as weapons as shown above..
Wel, the pestle can be made sharp to function as a dart for long range attack.
Then, it can also act as claw to hurt enemies as well as arrows for long range attack. AS for mortar, It is hard enough to be a shield...
